Pour fêter les 20 ans du format électronique, le BMJ propose aux lecteurs de voter pour les meilleurs articles. La sélection des 20 articles sélectionnés a été faite par 20 experts, et des lecteurs ont regretté l'oubli d'articles… Ces articles confirment le militantisme du BMJ pour les bonnes pratiques, contre le gaspillage de la recherche, avec le scandale MMR/ROR, le cas Shipman, médecin qui a euthanasié des patients, etc… mais moins d'articles de recherche de haut niveau… Les grandes études de phases 3 de l'industrie sont trustées par NEJM et Lancet.
