A l'occasion de son 125ème anniversaire, le BJD (British Journal of Dermatology) a publié 14 éditoriaux d'accès libre. Un éditorial (le 15ème) apporte une synthèse de ces 14 éditoriaux, et réfléchit sur l'avenir de cette revue : What does the BJD now stand for? A position statement. Le BJD est une revue clinique, et 4 thèmes ont été identifiés pour l'avenir : les essais cliniques, l'épidémiologie, la recherche qualitative et la recherche translationnelle. Bien sûr, comme tous, l'amélioration de la santé des patients est la base de cette stratégie. Deux points semblent importants pour le BJD :
- les recherches qualitatives commencent à être prises en considération par les revues cliniques, classiquement très orientées vers des études quantitatives, des essais, etc… Et pour cela, ce sont les lignes directrices SQRQ qui sont demandées.
- La recherche translationnelle
The BJD aims to publish the highest quality research encompassing the following:
- Clinical trials that are registered before recruitment starts and that report fully according to the CONSORT guidelines;
- Clinical studies that include epidemiology, qualitative research and mixed methods that conform to the STROBE and SRQR reporting guidelines;
- Translational research that describes basic and applied science of potential clinical relevance.

"Indeed, these editorials were masterclasses in how to make basic science exciting and relevant to clinical dermatologists, in the fields of skin cancer,[8] psoriasis,[2, 7, 14] chronic urticaria,[6] rosacea,[13]photoageing,[9] genetics,[2, 3, 5, 7, 14] immunodermatology[2, 7, 10, 13] and photodermatoses.[11] "
