‘Sexual Abuse’ s’engage pour accepter des reproductions d’études publiées dans la revue : y compris pour les études crapuleuses ?

L'éditorial de Michael Seto, rédacteur en chef de Sexual Abuse, le 3 mai 2019 est bienvenu. Il annonce trois changements pour cette revue très anglo-saxonne. Dans le comité de rédaction, l'Amérique du Nord est bien représentée (pas de français dans ce comité). M Seto détaille les 3 changements pour augmenter la reproductibilité :

Open science badging identifies articles that have engaged in practices that help science reporting be more transparent and reproducible, including preregistration of studies, open access to study materials, and open access to study data. 

Replication reports : We are therefore introducing brief replication reports as a new format for manuscripts describing the results of an attempt to replicate studies previously published in this journal. Preregistration is encouraged but not required. A replication report can be briefer than an ordinary manuscript because it can refer to the original article regarding the background and rationale for the study and for the description of methods. The replication report can then focus on subsequent attempts to replicate or extend the original study,

Vérification des stats : Statcheck was developed as an R-based program that could check for errors in statistical reporting in documents formatted according to the American Psychological Association’s publication style, the formatting followed for this journal.

Dans le domaine de la psychologie sociale, les réplications d'études deviennent fréquentes, et tout ceci est orchestré par le Centre pour la Science Ouverte de Brian Nosek à Charlottesville, USA.

Ces initiatives sont excellentes. Par curiosité, j'ai parcouru les sommaires des revues de ce domaine que je ne connaissais par. Outre Sexual Abuse, il y a Journal of Sex Research, Sexual Addiction & Compulsivity. C'est passionnant avec du hard sex !

En lisant les sommaires, nous pouvons imaginer que quelques expériences crapuleuses seront reproduites plusieurs fois…
